Dear Family & Friends,
I’m raising money again this year in support of the Gentle Ben Charity Challenge. Due to Covid-19 we are staying local again this year. Founded by my good friends, Steven and Michael Pearl and named in honour of their father, Ben Pearl, the event continues to celebrate his memory by raising funds to help battle cancer which took his life at an all too early age.
This event has a very personal aspect for me in that 2.5 years ago I was diagnosed with cancer on my tongue. As a result, part of my tongue was removed. The care I received from my oncologist and the staff at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre was nothing short of amazing. Thankfully, so far, I am OK and have only a minor speech impediment.
Since its inception in 1997, the Gentle Ben Charity Challenge has raised over $1.6 million, all of which has gone to support several cancer research and support programs, with recent emphasis on supporting the ground breaking efforts of the McEwen Stem Cell Institute, based in Toronto.
I have a renewed appreciation for the cutting edge research funded by the Gentle Ben. Please help me fundraise for this truly important and worthy cause. Please make a gift today!
Thank you very much!
Dan
