What can I say about this past year? Honestly, I am not sure there are words. But really, I don't have to tell you. 

All of us has our own stories of how this last year has gone - from isolation and health concerns, to our own sacrifices big and small. The list, like a work zoom call, feels like it would surely be endless. 

At the same time, I hope you, have found some good in the last year. Be it little sparks of delight peppered across the endless months, or life-changing moments of revelation. Those should be celebrated. 

In fact, celebration and gratitude is what Give a Shift is all about.

As we mark the one year anniversary of this pandemic, in a world that desperately wants to go back to 'normal', one thing hasn't changed. Our healthcare workers ongoing efforts and  their incredible sacrifices. This past year they stepped up to the challenge, faced COVID-19 head on, and didn't back down. And when this is all behind us, the world will have changed - it has changed already - but these healthcare heroes, their unwavering committment to care for the sick and most vulnerable in our community, will continue. 

I am proud to say I work at the Foundation that helps raise funds to support UHN. And I'm excited to be participating in Give a Shift, an event to honour the hard work and dedication of the healthcare heroes at Toronto General and Toronto Western hospitals and Toronto Rehabilitation Institute.
