Throughout this pandemic, because of my job, I’ve been very close to the incredible - and often heartbreaking - stories of healthcare heroes battling COVID-19 on the front lines. These are people who have risen to the challenge in ways unimaginable: volunteering to go into long-term care homes when nobody else could help, living alone in hotels to keep their family members safe, sneaking back home after a shift to decontaminate before hugging their children, being the hand that patients hold when their family isn’t allowed to visit.
This is far from over. The third wave has been the worst one yet. And my heroes are TIRED. They need our support. And so it’s our turn to rise to the challenge for them.
That’s why I’ve registered for Give a Shift, a virtual fundraising event that takes place April 30 - May 2 in support of healthcare heroes at UHN. Virtually with my colleagues, I’ll be spending 12 hours performing various challenges to even try to understand what it’s like to be in a frontline worker’s shoes. It is a privilege to support them. I Give a Shift. If you do too, join me by donating or registering. Thank you for your support!
