Welcome! I'm Linda Kuschnik, a member of the Spiritual Care team as well as a clinical educator for Clinician Psychospiritual education.at UHN
I’m raising money in support of the work of UHN Foundation and their hospitals: Toronto General Hospital, Toronto Western Hospital, and Toronto Rehab. Specifically the Department of Spiritual Care.
When you donate to my fundraising you are helping research, innovation and education in Psychospiritual Care for Patients, Families and Staff. We are all on a journey, looking for some meaning a purpose to guide us. Some call it a pilgrimage but you get to name it. Let's face it all of us or one of our loved ones will need to be in or use the services of a hospitalra during our life time. Spiritual care is part of the exceptional health care team at UHN and are one of many hospitarios who welcome and make UHN's world leading care possible.
I'm walking 800 km on the way of St James to Santiago de Composetela and maybe to the coast to Finisterra or 900km. The end of the world as it was known in the day! Well we know better now. Turtle Island where we are privileged to live is on the other side. The more people contribute the faster I'll walk. Show your support and encouragement and get me to what I am sure will feel to me to be the end of the world.
Please make a gift today! Thank you for your support! Linda
Day 30 Update
Well today turned out very differently than first planned! Like all good hikers I checked the weather report first thing this morning! They issued a server weather warning for the region and Santiago de Compostela. Tomorrow will have high winds 100km/hour and 40mm of rain. Today it rained in and off with some heavy downpours! Trying to let my feet dry a bit now! Yes there was some flooding today on route! See the underpass I had to walk through! I can’t imagine what it will be like tomorrow! It’s pouring rain right now!
So like any prudent person I packed my backpack and headed out the door to home! Well in this case Santiago! I left at 7:20am (so much for sleeping in!) and arrived at the cathedral at 4pm. It would have been earlier but I got lost trying to find the Cathedral! In total today with finding the hostel I walked 43.5kms! This was a bit much but I am in a good spot! Feet are a bit sore but otherwise seemed to avoid the blister problem again! Nothing a good nights sleep won’t solve!
So this has made for a long day! I’m in dorm room again with bunk beds I got the top one as the last one to arrive! ( so much for the private room! :() it’s only four people in the room which is much better! But it’s warm and dry and only a few minutes away from my hotel for tomorrow and the Cathedral!
Like any good pilgrim I went and got my Compostela and mileage certificate. Official I have walked 779kms on the Camino route! I’ll show them off when I get home. They are safely stowed in a tube for travel now!
I will I hope to go to the pilgrims mass tomorrow after I check in to my hotel and see a bit more of the area ( weather permitting!!) I’m going to go and find some food and likely sleep in a bit since I can stay here till 11am and the hotel check in is at 12pm.
This is it from the Camino but if I get to do a bit of sightseeing in Santiago I’ll send some pictures out!
Buen Camino! Linda
