As the world faces an unprecedented set of challenges, the courage and devotion of our frontline healthcare workers gives us hope that a brighter future is within reach.
The Dr. Harry Rakowski Frontline Healthcare Workers Support Fund is here to ensure that while the team at University Health Network is caring for us, they know we are caring for them.
The fund will provide daily meals for UHN’s frontline healthcare team who are involved in the care of infected patients. Given the unpredictable nature of their job and restrictions on movement in and out of the hospital, the fund will go towards food vouchers to keep our team performing at the highest level.
Funds will also be directed to help provide UHN’s frontline healthcare team with accommodation near the hospital. In light of longer and more concentrated shifts, the time it takes to travel between the hospital and home is time too valuable to waste. This is particularly true of our nurses and allied heath professionals, many of whom live outside the downtown core. Furthermore, given the nature of their responsibilities, frontline workers are at the highest risk of exposure to the virus. By routinely going home, they are unnecessarily putting their families at risk.
Through your support of the Dr. Harry Rakowski Frontline Healthcare Workers Support Fund, you are helping to ensure our team can continue fighting this pandemic with every bit of strength they need. Thank you for your generosity. As the world faces an unprecedented set of challenges, the courage and devotion of our frontline healthcare workers gives us hope that a brighter future is within reach.
