Dear Family and Friends,
As many of you know, I was diagnosed with a rare condition called Fabry Disease at the age of 36. The disease has caused me to experience a life-threatening arrhythmia called ventricular tachycardia. And this disease is the culprit of diastolic heart failure which I have been living with for the past two years.
This year I will be honouring my cardiology team for their amazing support and care by raising funds for The Peter Munk Cardiac Centre's Arrhythmia Program under the leadership of Dr. Spears; this program is the first of its kind in Canada and the goal is to improve outcomes for people living with rare cardiac diseases causing arrhythmia. It evaluates over 600 patients annually with medical evaluations, genetic testing and counselling and personalized care while unravelling familial and genetic underpinning of disease.
My campaign is called Feeling Yonge at Heart. I walk regularly to keep my heart as strong as possible. I will be walking from Yonge Street at Lawrence Avenue to Front Street on Saturday, October 21. I would love some company! And my Cardiology Team at The Peter Munk Cardiac Centre and I would be very grateful for your support. Please consider joining my team and walking with me or making a donation.
From my very big heart to yours, thank you!
Lori
